Title: Laboratory Technician

Reports to : Laboratory Supervisor

Description: A Laboratory Technician operates within the Laboratory and carries out analysis in order to release and develop highly bespoke and technical products for the speciality fuels market – serving the downstream Oil Majors, Automotive, Aerospace and Motorsport industries.

Purpose: Responsible for carrying out analysis when applicable according to industrial practice as well as to the highest internal level of quality. All activities carried out in best interest of the business, incl. cost optimisation and quickest turnaround – while adhering to HSE guidelines and best practice guidelines – and also striving to deliver exceptional customer service and analytical excellence throughout the laboratory stage.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Carry out and reporting on analysis on fuel, components, pilots and water samples
  • Calibrating and standardising laboratory equipment align with LQMS
  • Blending of a wide range of laboratory fuel blends and preparing additive solutions independently and consistently.
  • Work closely with the Laboratory Supervisor to ensure highest level of quality is getting delivered.
  • Supporting the Laboratory Quality Management System.
  • Pro -Actively raise non-conformities, room for improvements or out of spec results.
  • Creating MSDS’s in accordance in accordance with legislation and in time to meet business needs if required
  • Managing all operational aspects of the ICPMS project as required.

Performance Measurement Criteria:

  • Analysis output and efficiency
  • Adherence to standard lead-time targets and rapid turnarounds as agreed with Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Achievement of suitable and agreed right first-time criteria.

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Ideally a Degree in Chemistry (or equivalent)
  • Experience of working in a laboratory is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Fuels Laboratory Tests is preferred.
